Requirements
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience:

3 to 5 years of experience in microfinance, financial inclusion, or livelihood development programs.
Additional Requirements:

Age at most 40 years.

Experience in NGO-led financial empowerment programs, SME development, or rural banking initiatives is preferred.

Strong background in loan management, credit risk assessment, and financial literacy training.

Technical skills required:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Strong knowledge of microfinance operations, loan cycles, and repayment management.

Ability to analyze financial reports, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions.

Excellent report writing, documentation, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially when engaging with rural communities, entrepreneurs, and women-led businesses.

Responsibilities & Job Context
Job Context:
The Program Officer – Microfinance & Livelihood Development will be responsible for managing and expanding financial inclusion programs, supporting entrepreneurs, small business owners, and vulnerable communities to achieve economic stability. The role involves working with local cooperatives, community savings groups, and rural entrepreneurs to ensure access to capital, business development training, and sustainable income opportunities. The officer will operate under the guidance of the Program Manager – Microfinance & Livelihoods and collaborate with local financial institutions and stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the loan disbursement, repayment collection, and financial tracking for microfinance beneficiaries.

Conduct financial literacy training sessions for micro-entrepreneurs, farmers, and small business owners.

Work closely with local cooperatives and savings groups to facilitate access to financial services.

Ensure proper risk assessment, loan screening, and creditworthiness evaluations of beneficiaries.

Monitor income-generating activities and provide technical guidance to improve business performance.

Develop partnerships with banks, financial institutions, and local government bodies to strengthen microfinance programs.

Conduct field visits to assess loan utilization and the economic impact of financial support.

Assist in designing livelihood development strategies and capacity-building initiatives.

Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on program progress and beneficiary impact.

Support female entrepreneurs and marginalized groups in accessing microfinance services.
